So, you all know that my latest nemesis has been Lauren Reed/Melissa George from Alias....but this week, with the media overload, Britney Spears is my new target. I've heard a handful of songs from her new CD, and I believe they're actually decent. However, the step necessary to push them into the "good" realm is to remove all vocal tracks. While never a vocal giant, this CD only accentuates the fact that she's convinced she MUST revert to sexual moaning throughout her songs for them to gather any interest. Where did the little girl from Star Search go? You know, the one who could belt out a Broadway tune with the best of them? Most singers voices mature with age, but not our Brit, her voice has regressed to that of a 7 year-old (no offense to 2nd graders out there).

Kudos to this Plain Dealer writer for his coverage of the press conference surrounding her CD's release. I roared aloud with laughter while reading the article - it's a classic. My favorite comment is her defense on using "backing vocals" while she performs. Enjoy !!
