I had a bit of a scare at the family gathering last night. As I perused the goodies, I asked my sister to test a cookie since I couldn't tell if it was nut or apple filling. She took a bite and handed me the cookie, stating that it was apple. I popped the cookie in my mouth and my tongue instantly began to swell. You see, I'm allergic to nuts. A few shots of Benadryl, a lot of mouth rinsing, and about 12 glasses of water later, I resolved that calling 911 wasn't necessary. The side effect, though, was that the Benadryl knocked me OUT. I hope my clan had fun, because I slept through the whole dinner and gift giving. I awoke at 9pm and drove home. Next year...I'm declaring a completely NUT-FREE holiday. I'm tired of my family trying to kill me...don't they realize that I've bequeathed every cent I have to care for my two cats????
