Post-Presentation Glee -
The presentation this morning was a tremendous success. It could not have been more well-received, with numerous compliments on my presentation's content and delivery. The CEO, who I'd not met prior to today, asked me why I'd not done promotion for the system earlier. As he put it, "those other techy geeks who have gone before you were too caught up in the technical side of system, while you presented the important aspect - how the systems can help the users with their daily tasks".

The most rewarding part of this morning's presentation was that the excitement about our data warehouse continued to spew forth from the users all the way through dinner. I've even run out of business cards to pass out - and it was only the first day (thank goodness for over-night mail).

I sat opposite my Senior Vice President at dinner. His comment to me: "I was so pleased to see such a professional and well-prepared "sell" for our system." He noted to me that I proved to him this morning that I should take on more challenging roles within the company. I'm already been scheduled to travel to Tampa every 2 - 3 weeks over the next 6 months to work with another Senior Vice President....who was so impressed that he begged my SVP to allow me to help his team plan and roll-out new tools for his team.

Today was absolutely the turning point in my career....now there are certainly vast opportunities for me within this company - so much that I'm leaning away from my other job offers with competitors. As my boss said, "today, you wrote your own ticket to any project you'd like to run in the company".

Tonight was also the turning point in the career of a co-worker. Friends, PLEASE remember that you should always limit your alcohol intake during business dinners. This co-worker clearly committed many career-limiting faux pas' in the eyes of senior management tonight. Let's just say it's a bit of our friend, Karma Electra visiting.....since this woman had just recently blabbed to others some confidential information that she and I had discussed. Oh that Karma, she can be your friend, and tonight we were buddies!!
