Gucci/Birkin/Prada or not, no handbag is worth it...

Since this story broke (Actress killed during mugging), I've been a bit annoyed that it made the national news. Is the story hanging on because she was an "actress"? (an earlier article stated the group was at the bars that night celebrating her new job as a waitress/bartender.) Is it because she died in her fiance's arms? (someone please explain why that man walked away from the confrontation, leaving her behind...) Is it because she was stupid enough to taunt a man/child who was holding a gun? Look, don't get me wrong...crime sucks. Yet I find it hard to become emotionally involved with the "WHY" when a victim actually suggested the outcome. I've grown tired of media's sensationalism of each and every story where the victim is a "beautiful white" woman. [*sigh*]
