Guitar Mania

Each year, to benefit The United Way of Cleveland, artists are commissioned for the painting of large-sized replicas of Fender Strat guitars. Large-sized meaning these are over 5 feet tall. These are designed by local and national celebrities, and then placed throughout the city during the summer. Here's a way to view all the guitars (careful, it's a live auction site, so don't spend what you can't cover). I've also noted some of my favorites below, but check out your favorites.

Cleveland Browns Ax of Fame
Painted by local sports illustrator, Gary Thomas. I've been friends with his son for years, and his illustrations of the Browns are infamous throughout the city.

Tribute
Designed by Buddy Holly's widow, wouldn't it be a great catch to have this guitar? This year is the 50th anniversary of the Fender Strat - which Buddy Holly introduced to the world during his Ed Sullivan experience.

Rockin' the Rim
C'mon, it's got LeBron !!

Speedy
Designed by Marky Ramone....the last surviving member of The Ramones.

My Guitar Gently Weeps
In tribute to George Harrison...I love the teardrop enclosing the guitar.

Reba's Red Hot Guitar
For the Reba lovers everywhere....this proves that her husband actually approves of all of her horrific sequined outfits.

Dude Looks Like a Lady
Dude, is this truly supposed to resemble Liv Tyler???

Pachyderm Picassos
'Cuz the elephants painted it, of course.
