My grandparents are from Ireland, but I'm American...

As if it were necessary for me to find new reasons to admire Morgan Freeman...he gave me yet another. I've often pondered why our answer differs when the question is asked "Where are you from?" Within the borders of the United States, we generally describe ourselves as Irish, African-American, Korean, Italian, Russian, Mexican, Jamaican, Brazilian, British, Scottish, Japanese, etc....yet the moment we step into another country, we tell people we're American. I pray that before I take my last breath that we've grown accustomed to accepting each other simply as American.
