Mee-Ouch !!
Poor Cookie, he's got a loose and infected fang. After a week of him wincing whenever it was inadvertently touched, it was time to hit the vet. Well, this afternoon the vet hit back !! A $350 fang removal is scheduled on Friday morning for the Cookster. Today's visit alone was $100, including a $50 bloodwork test to determine if he's strong enough (11 years old) to undergo surgery. Looks like my Vegas fund is dwindling rapidly. He's also being x-rayed while sedated to determine if his bladder stones are back (and the reason behind me cleaning the carpet quite often lately). Should this precious pussy need further surgery, the Vegas fund will run drier than the desert.

That's what I get for actually planning a vacation. Oh, the silver lining to this all???? The vet is throwing in a free teeth cleaning while he's having the fang removed. Somehow, I'm more apt to believe it's built into that $350 charge.

In other news...in today's mail, I received my summons for jury duty in my hometown every Thursday in September. Yes, tonight I'm often looking upward to see if I can actually catch the anvil falling.
